2024 STEM & STEAM Youth Camp
Students from who participated in the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation's (MCJCF) 2023 STEM & STEAM Camp received laptop computers provided by AT&T, in collaboration with MCJCF. Charles Stein, Vice President of Business Development) The MCJCF STEM & STEAM Program, initiated by the late Don Smith, founder of MCJCF, aims to provide opportunities for students to explore tech careers that are often lacking in diversity.
Aiming to bridge the digital divide, AT&T, a long-time supporter of MCJCF, in addition to donating funds for computers, afforded 26 high school students the opportunity to explore drone technology through demonstrations and hands-on drone operating experiences. Tony Reid, co-founder of Drone Cadets learning lab and his team, presented drone demonstrations and instructions as part of an initiative to broaden prospects of tech careers for students in our community.
A new learning lab opened at Silicon Harlem with a major donation from AT&T , aiming to bridge the digital divide. Gleaming screens offer local kids the latest technology, including augmented reality and coding. The nonprofit, in collaboration with AT&T and the National Urban League is working to expose students to drone technology this summer, with Drone Cadets being a part of the initiative. This program aims to provide diverse opportunities for kids to explore tech careers that are often lacking in diversity.
